OR64 technical tapes for the cable industry.
Distributor and converter of tapes for cable manufacturers, with its own warehouse and lines in Lavern (Barcelona). Its website was a set of static pages, one copy per language, with a single products page. The new one organises families, services and sectors from a trilingual database and generates the PDF datasheet for every product.
Technical data of the project.
A static website that hid the catalogue.
OR64 supplies insulation, shielding, water-blocking and fire-protection tapes, and converts them in its own plant: slitting, spooling, rewinding and mica taping. The previous website, built with a page builder, showed none of this: one products page for the whole catalogue, a few manufacturer PDFs linked by hand and a full copy of the site for each language.
Four ways in to the same product.
Someone buying mica tape may start from the material, from the taping service or from the standard their cable must meet. That is why the product is linked from its family, from the service that applies it and from the sectors that require it.
The in-house plant, with its figures.
What sets OR64 apart from just another distributor is what it does with the material before shipping it. Each service has its own page with widths, diameters, reel formats and standards, which is what a purchasing manager asks before requesting a quote.
12 sector pages for those who make the cable.
Each sector has its own page with applications, technical requirements and the tapes that fit. The railway cable manufacturer finds mica and EN 45545; the marine one, water-blocking.
What lies underneath, no CMS, no templates.
Custom code from start to finish. Content lives in the database, in three languages, and the same data feeds both the page and the PDF datasheet: if a technical value changes, it changes in both places at once.
